Blog Oh Blog published a review about the 10 best WordPress Image galleries. I’m quite proud that Lazyest Gallery is one of them. You may vote for your favorite gallery plugin. How many votes will Lazyest Gallery receive?

Today the download counter for Lazyest Gallery in the WordPress Plugin Directory hit the 10000 mark. An excellent time to think about what to do next.
I have picked up the development of Lazyest Gallery about 11 months ago and I have added several new features in that time.
At this point, it is getting harder and harder to build on the existing code framework. I am looking at a lot of redundant code, functions with many parameters, and functions that just cannot be altered without breaking them. But, maybe that is what you get when you start working on someone else’s code.
I have taken the decision to start rewriting the plugin from scratch using object oriented design. From now on I will  use inline phpDocumentor documentation, and I hope to reduce the number of files drastically.
Sorry to dissappoint the users that are waiting for new features like pretty permalinks for the gallery. They will have to wait. Features like that are just too difficult to include using the current code base.
Version 0.12.2.2 will be the version to use until I finish recoding, except if bugs are found. The new version counter will start at 1.0

The following bugs have been repaired in version 0.12.1.3:

• By enabling the slide show, Lazyest Gallery will cache the slide images on your server. For some users this resulted in an error where the slide could not be written into the slides folder.
• Deleting the slides folder in the admin screen “Edit Lazyest Gallery Folder ” could not succeed

Alright, we’re almost ready now. Lazyest Gallery Release Candidate 2 is available for download from the WordPress Plugin Repository. It has been tested up to WordPress 2.7 beta 2.

Version 0.11.0 is almost ready now. I can’t find any bug anymore. I have uploaded release candidate 1 to the trunk.
Update: I did find and corrected a bug in the Windows Xp Upload Wizard.
Although I am confident enough to use it on my sites, please be aware that Lazyest Gallery 0.11.0 rc1 should not be used on a live blog.

Some users are reporting 404-not found 403-forbidden errors when they activate ‘fancy’ permalinks.
If your gallery page has the same name as the gallery folder, your server will attempt to show the content of the folder instead of your wordpress page. Please make sure the names are different.
Another trick, that works most times, is to put index.php in the gallery URI in the Lazyest Gallery settings.
