Testers needed for Lazyest Gallery 0.16.0

Admin, Comments, Features Add comments

Lazyest Gallery 0.1.6.0 is almost finished. It took a while because the entire plugin is encoded again. This version includes the long awaited pretty permalinks for the gallery. Folders and photos will now appear as subpages of the gallery. Please note that it is not possible to use WordPress subpages of the gallery page.

This version also includes the ability to show:

  • random images from subfolders;
  • the number of images in subfolders;
  • exif data in improved layout
  • underscores converted to spaces in captions
  • use another word for ‘photos’ in the gallery ( e.g. you want to show ‘wallpapers’ )
  • on click → nothing for thumbnails
  • option to show or hide the “Powered by Lazyest Gallery” credits
  • a new menu item in WordPress admin. The File Manager is no longer part of the Media menu.
  • compatible with WP Super Cache when you use pretty permalinks for the gallery

We could use some help in testing this version. Please download the latest beta version at  the WordPress download site and describe your experiences below.

Please check my gallery to see how the pretty permalinks work out http://brimosoft.nl/gallery/

UPDATE:
Beta7 is out. I feel it’s stable enough to run on this site. If you re-install this beta, please delete the plugin first on the plugin admin page to ensure that the options be removed from the database.

UPDATE:
Beta8 is out. Images show correctly now in thickbox and lightbox. The are some minor problems on the comment editing page, which I hope to solve soon. The Admin page javascripts need some rework too. And I haven’t found an answer to the error Hein describes because I cannot make that error appear on my servers.

UPDATE:
Beta11 (!) is out. I have fixed the problems with inserting the shortcode in the Admin page. The slide view doesn’t show subfolders anymore. The Lazyest Gallery Edit Comments page is functional again. Widgets have a proper link to the gallery. How about the Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /volume1/web/mug/wp-includes/classes.php on line 211 Hein? I have changed some points that could be causing this.

I’m delighted to report that after testing 4 or 5 different beta versions, Lazyest Gallery latest version 0.16.0-rc1 works beautifully on my website! It’s a very stable version and a serious release candidate :-) It’s packed full of amazing features, random images as folder icons, comments per folder and per image, thickbox integration, and the slideshow is very cool too! Marcel is a great guy, always very kind and patient, and he’s been offering excellent support to this amazing plugin! Thank You!
    Lara – a happy customer :-)

Another thing, the Folder Columns setting seems to be ignored. The folder colums use the same number set in the Thumbnail Columns.

    • Marcel says:

      Hi Chris,
Thank you for testing the release candidate. You’ve spotted some errors I didn’t find earlier.

      • Chris says:

Hey, sure, I really like the new features, the ability to display random thumbnail images within subfolders is a great feature. I don’t know what the div problem was but I don’t get it anymore. The pop-up window and Folder columns are the two bugs that are causing problems for me. I have reverted back to an older version for now, do you know when the next stable version will be released?
        Thanks, great job.

  5. Chris says:

Another problem I’ve found is that for some reason the “Show image in pop-up window” function no longer works. It genrates a popup with a page cannot be found. However, when I change it to “Show full size image” is shows the image fine, so my settings must be okay.
    What could be causing this?.
    Thanks

  6. Chris says:

What I have found is in this part of the code:

    <a href="”>text_domain); ?>

If you remove that last closing div tag then it looks fine with the folders view, but it then lacks the closing div in the thumbnails/image views.

Basically there is an extra div tag for the folders view which interfears with the layout.
    Thanks

  7. Chris says:

I’ve been playing with lazyest-gallery.0.16.0-rc1, functionally it seems to be working fine, but I did find an issue in the layout frontend.php.
It’s weird but it seems as if there maybe an extra closing div tag in there somewhere. On my gallery page one of my main layout div’s is closed before it can hold the content, which messes up the layout. This only happens in the folders view. Once you view thumbnails or images everything appears fine. Which closing div tag could be causing this?
    Thanks

Same procedure as before. Complete removed beta8. Uploaded and installed beta10. Can not add code to page automaticly or manually. Get this error when i want to edit a page to add the code manually. When letting LG do it i get the message that it can not load lazyest gallery.

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /volume1/web/mug/wp-includes/classes.php on line 210

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /volume1/web/mug/wp-includes/classes.php on line 211

  9. Hein says:

Deactivated beta8. Removed beta8. Uploaded beta10. Activated beta10. Took ages. Stil LG wil not add the code to a page i select. When i go to add the code manually i get this:

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /volume1/web/mug/wp-includes/classes.php on line 210

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /volume1/web/mug/wp-includes/classes.php on line 211

I wish i had some coding genes but i don’t :( Hope you can solve this riddle.

    • marcel says:

  10. Lara says:

fantastic job, Marcel. Just installed beta8 and Thickbox is now showing full size images, great! Only issue: there are no “previous/next” or “close” links in Thickbox! I also can’t see anymore the animated gif indicating that the image is being loaded. I guess this is not so difficult to fix? Thank you!

  11. Hein says:

Weird. Deinstalled the plugin completely. Upload the unzipped beta7 and activated it. Took ages to complete activating and then gave a message that it could not load lg-gallery when i tried to have lg write the tag onto the correct page. Same errors when opening the page to edit manually. The old 0.15 works flawlessly still.

    • Lara says:

Hein, were you trying to load lg-gallery in a private page? you can add the code manually and run the gallery in a private page, but you can’t have it listed in the ‘Your Gallery Page’ option on Settings. Don’t know if that was your case.

  12. Lara says:

I just upgraded to version 0.16.O and Thickbox is not resizing the full sized image (to fit in the browser screen) but is using the thumbnail from the slide view, which is rather small. And navigation links (previous / next) are also not working on Thickbox. Anyone else having these problems? HELP! All the rest looks all right.

    • Marcel says:

Which thickbox plugin are you using? I’ll try to find the best settinbgs for you.

      • Lara says:

        Marcel, I’m using this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/thickbox/

but if it’s easier you can point me to a different plugin that will be compatible with version 0.16.0 and I’ll just use it! thanks!

      • Lara says:

any ideas, Marcel? I tried everything already, Thickbox is definitely not pulling the full size original image, it’s loading thumbnails instead, it’s a bit frustrating. There’s also no navigation options within Thickbox slide window once it’s loaded. It was working fine with the previous LG version. Could it be some PHP bug? In my case is the only thing not working properly in version 0.16.0, the rest seems to work really well and images from subfolders as random icons are just great. Thanks!

      • Lara says:

it’s a path problem, I guess. On slide view, LG is telling Thickbox to open images from the /slides folder on click and not the full image from the root folder. Can this be fixed? I tested it with Lightbox and I’m getting exactly the same problem. I have no idea where to go to change this path. I cannot launch my new website before having this fixed :-)

        • marcel says:

please be aware that LG 0.16.0 is still in beta. Not everythings is working like it should.
I have to change some code to pull out the full size image.
A new beta will be available later this week.

          • Lara says:

all right, Marcel, thanks! i’ll be looking forward to the new version later this week. I just wish there would be a quick fix for just this path/thickbox issue… I know, I’m a bit impatient :)

        • marcel says:

          Please try beta8

  13. marcel says:

The widget admin page crashes on a deprecated function :-(

  14. marcel says:

another bug: LG cannot find comment on paged comments

  15. Karen says:

I know this is going to sound weird, but I am looking for a gallery plugin that will generate the pages using the images I have in folders, but I would like it to display the original images rather than create a thumbnail of it. The images I need to display are small and often animated so when it created the thumbnails they aren’t animated. Is this something that your plugin can do?

  16. Hein says:

Downloaded beta4. Uninstalled beta3. Uploaded the zip through wp plugin page. Installed ok. Went to LG settings page. Had LG insert the short code. Apparently it worked. Wanted to check the picture page itself to check if the shortcode was indeed added. Got the same message as before.

  17. Another bug: duplicate images in the Random image widget. (working on it) ;-)

  18. Hein says:

Downloaded zip. Unzipped it. Uploaded the folder to plugins folder of wordpress. Activated plugin. And then when i go to either the settings page or back to the frontpage i get this:

Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /volume1/web/mug/wp-includes/classes.php on line 210

I found a bug: cropped images come out as black squares.
